I have a narrow heel and very high arches. I also am 100 pounds overweight (I am working on it) and I suffer from plantar fasciitis. As such I needed a shoe that would not compound the problem. I did alot of research on different shoes and these fit my budget as well as my foot. Before I bought this shoe on Amazon I went to the New Balance store in the mall and tried on 10-15 different styles of running/walking shoes. The only way to truly know how a shoe feels is to try it on. Since I bought the shoe a little over a month ago I have noticed a significant decrease in my plantar fasciitis symptoms. I can actually go the whole day without taking any pain relievers. Other New Balance shoes that I own helped a little but did not provide the relief that I have experienced from these shoes. I have narrow feet, and even narrower heels, so I appreciate the fact that NB uses different types of lasts on their shoes. You can select between standard and narrow heel width, between standard and high instep height, between standard and deep toe box height, and between standard and wide forefoot width. Different shoes have different combinations of those specifications. This particular shoe is on the SL-2 last, which is narrow heel, high instep, deep toe box, and wide forefoot. I believe that the WW846 runs a little small, so I buy a little larger size than I would normally wear. Especiallly since I use them for my daily walking of 2-4 miles, I want them to be very roomy for my toes. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful: ![]() By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: New Balance Women's WW846 Walking Shoe (Apparel) I have always had balance issues and painful feet. Recently I took a foot test to determine what kind of arches I had and the results were I had really flat feet. It was a simple test that I found online: you fill a pan of water and get your foot wet and then step on to a piece of cardboard or shopping bag or something you'd be able to see your foot print on and then step off and look at your print. Mine showed the entire foot which means flat feet with a probable tendency to be an overpronator. So I started researching shoes that would be good for that problem. I've had the most success before with New Balance shoes. I discovered this shoe by reading reviews for flat feet and I called the company and asked which of their shoes was good for flat feet-not mentioning that I was already looking into this shoe and they listed this one off as being best for it and offering the most support so I came here and ordered them. When I first put the shoe on I felt slightly... Read more |
