I wear a 9.5 in almost everything and had read (just like you) to go one half size up. I took the chance and went one half size up (44 for 9.5) and they fit perfect. The shoes themselves appear to be of good quality, but I have only had them for a couple of weeks now. Really like how they fit and perform. They do run small like all the other reviews say about Pearl iZUMi cycling shoes. My suggestion is to go to a couple of cycling stores and try a bunch of different shoes to figure out your size you're. Then order them off of Amazon. I got a great deal on these shoes. At the Pearl iZUMi outlet store I went to look at these shoes. They ran around 160.00 and I got them for 90.00.
