Is the best way to describe these shoes! First off - I run typically run about 20-25 miles a week JFYI. They feel as if your wearing cloud shoes-light and fluffy! Although the heel-to-toe drop is minimal, the shoes still has a very supportive arch. If you are even in question about these shoes - look them up. I spent hours and these things have been tried and true with marathon runners with no complaints other then the tread wears out faster then some other shoes. But I can't complain-I would rather need to buy new shoes more often then run in concrete slabs! I am a newbie marathon runner and I have had a pair of Nike's and New Balances before this. The Nike's were ok, but the ball of my foot would start to hurt towards 4+ miles. My New Balances were... HORRIBLE! I bought them off line and did not research them enough. The heel was HUGE (like running in high heels) and they were heavy (like 14+ oz each!)with no flex! None the less, I started having knee and arch issue... Stopped for several years, then picked it back up again in 2008. Ran myself promptly into stress fractures. Twice. Now that I have finally figured out how to train right now that I am older, I invested a lot in orthotics and stability shoes. No more. I believe in the philosophy of strengthening those muscles/tendons that cause pronation, which I had quite severely a few years back. I have eliminated all of my pronation and shin (stress fracture issues) by strength training including balance and core work (with a great trainer!). However, as I graduated out of my orthotics to just my Asics Kayanos and then Brooks Adrenalines without any insoles other than the stock shoe ones, I felt the shoes were too heavy and just too much shoe. I was interested in taking away all that fluff and support and having my feet and lower legs do what they were supposed to. So I looked at more minimalist shoes. No more cheating with... I have never been a super fast runner; I run 3 miles a few times a week. But after trying these shoes, I shaved FOUR minutes off of my 5 mile run! I couldn't believe it! These shoes are very comfortable and light. The mesh on the top lets the breeze go through keeping your feet cool and preventing odors and lots of foot sweat. The only warning I would say for the people who are purchasing online is that these shoes do run about 1/2 a size small. I have never worn a size 11 women's in my life- until I bought these shoes. I usually buy a women's 10 or a men's 8.5 since those are slightly bigger than a women's 10. But other than that, these shoes are a no-brainer to purchase! I cannot be happier with my new running shoes!!! |
