Great, long lasting hickory,

In 30 years of playing, Vater is the longest lasting stick available. I've tried them all: Ahead, Zildjian, Pro-Mark, Vic Firth...none hold up like the Vaters do.
The Vater 5B has a great balanced feel. The pairs are matched as advertised (other companies claim to match their pairs, but I feel a difference).
I can rock hard with these and they last longer than the Ahead (aluminium) 5Bs do...I play a lot of rim shots and play my hats a lot with the neck of the stick. These havethe density and tight grain that keeps them from falling apart. I expect the four pair I just bought to last me 12-18 months of regular use.

Strong sticks,

I am currently playing in a hard rock/metal project, and I've torn up two pairs of sticks in the last few weeks before buying these. I am still on my first pair, and they are holding up extremely well. I usually look at the tip of a stick to gauge its durability, and these are hardly damaged at all after several weeks of hard practices. I will definitely look into buying these sticks again once I am through with the four pairs I originally ordered.

I used to us Vic Firth sticks, and while I'll still love VF, Vater really kills 'em for me. These are the best feeling sticks I have ever felt. So strong and durable, yet smooth and a GREAT feel in the hands. I have NO quarrels with them! They last forever!!
