5.0 out of 5 stars A good shoe, September 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I went to multiple sports stores looking for black/dark colored running shoes. None had my size in a style I liked. So I got my exact comfortable size while in a store and went to amazon to find what I wanted. This shoe is very lightweight, yet it still feels like my foot is supported and held tight without binding. The breathable material actually allows for foot ventilation, rather than just creating a swampy, wet polyester feeling. I can feel air flow over my feet (with socks on as well), driving with the car windows down. The cushioning in the shoe feels rigid, but not too hard. I wear heel-cushioning insoles anyway, and these fit in the shoe without sacrificing much room in the toe-box. If you wear orthotic insoles, or like thick/soft cushioning in your shoe, I would recommend buying a width one measurement above your average, as this style doesn't open much with the laces completely loose.

I was hoping to find a a pair of shoes to fit my wide feet that would (in order of importance) -
1) Be comfortable for walking around town (pavement)
2) Light trail hiking (through established trails)
3) Look acceptable to wear into the office (casual, not business casual)

These shoes fit well and surprisingly they met all my requirements. They are comfortable to walk in around the store and since buying them - they're comfortable to walk around town in. They have a solid grip on the bottom and a good sole. They're not as rigid as a proper backpacking boot is and are probably about middle of the pack in terms of support for trail runners.

They are somewhat plain in terms of appearance. They do have a design pattern - being all black they kinda blend in. The picture accents the differences in parts of the shoes more-so than they appear in real life. They are nice and I'd recommend them. If you know your size they seem to run true... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed..., May 10, 2011

Initially very happy with this shoe. Great fit, true to size, and very comfortable. After 2 months of light usage the sole started coming apart. This is unacceptable for any shoe. I've always worn New Balances because of the perfect fit and my wide feet. I've never had an issue with any previously purchased shoes. In fact, I have a pair of New Balances that I purchased in 2004 that I'm still wearing to this day. I hope this isn't an indication of where the quality of their shoes are going.
