Several units on the market have only RCA and S-Video connection inputs and output. This Philips Switching RF Modulator provides both, PLUS it includes a coax connection for your television (so if you have an older television that still uses coaxial cable, this unit is the answer). Connect your cable or satellite TV service, along with up to four pieces of equipment, as this unit has four inputs (three inputs in the back and one easy access input in the front) and one set of output jacks in the back. Each set of inputs gives you a choice of RCA or S-Video to connect. I wanted to hook up my DVD/VHS player, my Cable Box from Comcast, as well as be able to hook up my video camera when I wanted to play and record to my DVD player at the same time. This unit is excellent. Hook up is a breeze. The unit automatically recognizes what is being used - example - I turn my TV on, and the regular cable channel comes on. If I put a DVD in, then it automatically flips to that. When I plug in my video camera to the front of the unit - it'll flip to that. Amazing.Due to heavy useage (my children picking it up and trying to move it out of the way to dust every week - without being mindful of the cable connections) the connections in the back have gotten loose, so the picture is not as clear as it used to be. I was so happy with the performance of my first one - I'm back to buy another - I'm not even shopping around to see if there is something better out there - this worked perfectly ! 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Easy to use, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: PHILIPS SWS2104W/27 Switching RF Modulator (Electronics) If you need an easy to use switch for multiple audio/video inputs to a single TV then this one is for you. You connect the outputs to your TV, and each of the input ports has a priority - I.E. if both devices are on the switch will connect the high priority port. I have my DVD player on the highest priority, and the DirecTV receiver on the next level down. If the DVD player is off, DirecTV is connected. When I turn on the DVD player it automatically switches to that, and switches back when I'm finished.This is a good value for the money and I'm surprised that places like Best Buy and so forth don't have them - but Amazon came through. |
